Hoof's Tips and Opinions:

The Hawker Hurricane Mk IIc is the cannon-equipped version of the Mk II Hurricane. After the Battle of Britain, it was realized that the Hurricane's days as a pure fighter were numbered, as it had several characteristics that were to limit the Hurricane's growth especially with regards to speed, namely the thick wings. Thus the Hurricane diversified into a fighter-bomber, with the Hurricane II, which was able to carry two 500lb bombs, and were equipped with different armament, ranging from the normal 8 .303 machine guns in the Mk IIa, 12 .303 machine guns in the Mk IIb, 4 20mm Hispano-Suiza cannon in the IIc, and 2x40mm tank-busting cannon in the IId.

The Warbirds IIc is an interesting bird. She has a more powerful engine than the Mk I, allowing for greater speed (still slow by Warbirds standards though), but the conversion to four cannon plus additional mods added more than a thousand pounds to the weight of the aircraft resulting in the Mk IIc performing only marginally better than the Mk I. Her turning ability decreased with the additional weight, but the exceptional handling of the Mk I is retained, plus her four cannon make her one of the deadliest fighters to have shooting at you.

This plane should initially see a fair bit of use in the arena. She is able to give P38s a run for their money in turning matches, especially since the Mk IIc's initial turn is superior, which should give the first or second critical shots to the Hurricane in a post-head-on engagement. But avoid a sustained turnfight with a SpitV or P38L, or any of the Japanese planes (except the Ki84). This can be tricky, as you are much slower than these planes, and have far worse acceleration and climb. The vertical performance of the Hurricane is very poor compared to the later war powerhouses, and thus one should be wary if the enemy uses energy tactics on you.

Her key asset, and the reason many will fly her, is her firepower. She has four 20mm cannon and has a combined firepower very close to a FW 190A8. Thus a few pings is all it takes for most planes. Unfortunately she has one of the shortest clips in the game, with only 8 seconds of fire, therefore spray 'n' pray tactics should be avoided like the plague. This plane has enough ammo to reliably down 3 planes per sortie, due to the punch of those four cannon, but this will only happen if you shoot only when you *know* you can hit.

But as it was historically when this variant came out, the Hurricane was becoming rather obsolescent, not able to handle the newer planes as well as other similar-period planes like the Spitfire.
