Beanworld Zero is a preview of the first 24 pages of what was to become Tales of the Beanworld issue 20.

Synopsis
The story reveals the origin of Beans in the Beanworld. Special attention is given to one bean which discovers the Fix-It Shop. The bean's curiosity leads it to don a strange piece of headgear. This bean will eventually become Professor Garbanzo.
While the beans are growing, another story is going on above. Mr. Teach'm is showing an as-yet-unnamed Mr. Spook the ropes of the hero business. The young hero takes to his studies quickly; he's a natural.
The story is continued in Tales of the Beanworld issue 20.
Noteworthy
A note on the inside cover says that only 100 copies were printed.
The ashcan is dedicated to "Dave Sim and the Spirit of PetuniaCon 1984", a pivotal event in Mr. Marder's involvement in comics. The story is told in depth in Heidi's McDonald interview in The Comics Journal #201.
